Where is the AS2 located now?
It's on the 3rd level of the main building, from the foyer, go up the spiral staircase until level 3 and turn left. The first door you see labelled "Curtain Call Studio" is the new handbell room. It's quite nice and the air-conditioning is powerrrr. And the toilet is just outside, the new toilets are clean! *celebrates*

packing and moving: no confirmed date-but will be within this 2 weeks i think

open house: 28nov-we'll be doing the usual booth and performing (song(s) TBC). yall will be rostered to be at the booth and stuff; you shld have recieved the sms so yeah, no going abroad till 28th...(mschng says so). AND we have to practise veryvery hard this few pracs coz we dun have many(due to moving)

chalet:8and9thdec-just so you know:D at aloha loyang so it'll be super fun and its a SEA VIEW BUNGALOW!!!yes,so you will regret if you don't come. *plz bring $15 this thurs and pay zhihui for the chalet* more details coming!(:

Greetings earthlings! I realize this blog is very the dead, don't you think so? No one has been updating this blog since June/July. What happened yo?

Anyway, to sec 4s, Olevels are round the corner! HOHOHO! Add oil/Jia You/All the best! It may be very draining psychologically now, but when you're older and you look back, it's just an exam with a name called "Olevels"! (Idk what I am talking about already.) Anyway, just give in all your effort, study hard, and you can enjoy your holidays already! Goody luck yo!

And to the exco and rest of CHE, heh heh, are we going to have a chalet again? (Sounds good ya?) I need to meet up with my fellow handbellers to talk crap! HAHA!

hello everyone,

i'm posting for the last time here as secretary of CHE. (though my term has expired for 2 days, sorry:))

This 1 year has been great, and a wonderful learning experience for me. I'd like to thank all the seniors who trusted and believed in me to do a good job in leading CHE, and everyone else who has supported me through this journey. I'm stepping down not because I don't like Handbells or I don't like anyone from handbells, but I think now it's time for me to move on and let others take the lead. But I trust the new committee will do even better, yeah?:) (not to give pressure lah!)

anyway, that's all I have to say. Let's all continue to give our best for CHE!(:

sec4 farewell09 was held ytd and i'm here,representing the whole of sec4s to thank all the juniors for all the efforts put in.we really appreciate it alotalotalot.i can say that there's many unexpected surprises and the deco of as2 was superb.presents were like WOAHHH too.yupp.amount of presents were just too overwhelming.the sec4s had to go home with so many plastic bags la.but,i really must admit.planning of farewell's really good this year.better than what we've expected.muchmuch better i can say.yupp.thanks for everything ya.

there is a HANDBELL FESTIVAL on 3 - 6 july (friday-monday)
3 july - starts at 3pm
4 july - full day
5 july - afternoon
6 july - ends at 12pm. (monday is holiday, in lieu of youth day!)
it is at PLMGS(sec) at the musical place.
it is $50, the school MAY pay for us or MAY be paid by edusave, if not you have to pay yourself.
if you are interested let rachel know, but miss chng said its not confirmed yet(?).
its the first ever handbell festival okay!

hey juniors!
didnt wanna flood the tagboard.
so i decided to post this instead.

first to all the syf juniors,
you guys really did a great job! (like what the others have already said)
it's visible that plenty of hardwork has been put in.
and the standard could really be heard.
a pity that you guys didn't get to hear all the other schools play,
so at least you'll know where you stand.
and at least also learn from them and their mistakes too.

basically what i wanna say is,
gwh or not doesnt really matter.
i know it sounds really cliche to keep saying that "its the process that matters".
but as you grow older, you'll really begin to understand the true meaning of that statement.
as long as everyone had FUN,
i think everything is worthwhile.
&as long as you think you did your best,
den you'll live with no regrets.

through syf, you'll have lovely memories of all the times spent together;
spending most of your hours practising.
all the scoldings, naggings, joys, laughters, etc.
it really makes your seniors miss syf practises badly!!
&you'll soon come to realise it too(:

no doubt when you get your desired gwh,
you'll feel that indescribable joy.
but if you don't, you'll be upset. without a doubt.
all your fellow seniors have been through it.
you'll cry terribly.
because you feel that what you've put in,
hasnt been paid off.
but as long as through all the hardwork,
you've gained something; be it the bond you've built up amongst yourselves, the close-knitted frienships or even the joy you've attained for playing those bells.
i think that's what it really matters.

ask yourself,
what have you achieved or learned throughout this period of time?
did you enjoy yourself during syf practices despite it being quite tough?

ok.all the efforts that we've put in all comes down to an eight minute long performance tmr.we've gone through practices over and over again as a team,sweat,tears and sacrifices.we've perfected the songs long time ago so i'm sure we can do it once again on the stage tmr.i know all of yall wants tmr to turn out fabulous and i'm sure we can do it tgt.

all we have to do is just do our best and rmb every sentence mrs aw said to us for the past 6months.we've grown so much as a team and it'll officially be the last time we'll be playing these two songs tgt as a team,so jiayou people.we've come thus far,and we arent very far away from our target.

Well. I want you guys to take this seriously and just do your best out there. Its only 8 (or was it 6) crucial minutes that you have to impress the papaya heads sitting there in the audience. I'm pretty much sure that if you all just focus and concentrate on your music for that few minutes, your gold (wh) is within reach.

Ok MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL. I want you guys to have fun up there, cause trust me, you're gonna miss playing those two songs. AND OF COURSE. See you guys on the 30th. I'll be there. :) And.. whatever the result, we'll all have fun at dinner. :D

SYF 09; RECORD BREAKING TEAM.

Hey everyone.
Your VP here. ( less than a month to call myself that. okay that was random. )

So... 11 more days to SYF 2009. After 6 months of being together, this is the last time we're going to play together, the last week of practices together, the final lap to SYF 09.

Firstly, i want to tell you guys that i'm naming our team.
THE RECORD BREAKING TEAM.
Yes yes yes we got silver for 4 times so far. THAT DOES NOT MEAN WE WILL CONTINUE THE "TRADITION". That's precisely why we're called the RECORD BREAKING TEAM.
And, TEAM stands for ALL 25 of us, ALL together as ONE.

Secondly, these few practices we're going to have together is very very precious. I don't know whether it's precious to you too, but it IS VERY, to me.
The last 11 days to play these 2 songs. The 2 songs that we've played a thousand over times and are already part of our daily lives, without us even realising it.
This coming week, we're going to be really really intensively training ourselves, and live up to our RECORD BREAKING TEAM and PROVE THAT WE'RE A GWH TEAM.
But seems like some people are really BUSY, and that they have other more impt things to do.
I have a question. What really matters at this point of time? SYF or "whatever else" ???
Does SYF only matter when we are about to go on stage? Or do all the practices we had together more important, and the bond between us?

I don't know how many times XinPing and I have been emphasizing this but i'm still gna say it- Commitment. Tell me truly how much you really care about SYF, and the 24 other ringers? Typing in your blog that WE CAN DO IT doesn't do much, really. WE HAVE TO LIVE UP TO THE ''WE CAN DO IT.'' & not just blatently say that.

Thirdly, the ringers that have always been committed and they KNOW IT, DO NOT FEEL DEMORALISED. Continue to perservere on, and influence others to be like you too.
If you cannot succeed in influencing them, you can give the job to me. But if you've did your best, don't feel sad coz the others didn't. Be happy that you did your best. It's a kind of sense of achievement as well. There's no use not doing your best and getting good results that don't belong to you. That way you'll probably feel guilty. Right?

Fourthly, I know that some of us are still having problems with the 2 songs.
Continue to work hard. Yes you can do it. With our help and your own determination, nothing's impossible. And i want to praise some people here. I want to thank all that helped Hazel with her beat. You guys have given all the confidence and determination that she could have possibly get.
Hazel, continue to GRASP THE BEAT (: You're the one that compliments the whole team playing together.
Also, the people that helped Amanda too! Dorothy & Evangeline & Ms Chng for helping Amanda. Amanda, rmb that you are the Melody, and the Harmony too. Every note you're playing in the 2 songs matter to us, matter to the whole team. Continue to work hard!! Show Mrs Aw you can do it! ( & dont be so blur already okay! ) (:

Next, to our seniors, we're telling you now, that on 30th April 2009, You guys are going to have your DREAM COME TRUE. GWH 2009.
To my juniors not performing for SYF, I want you guys to learn from our experience like how i did last time. It doesn't mean you're not performing now that you're not important to us. You are part of us too. Part of CEDAR HANDBELL ENSEMBLE.

Cantad al Senor - but the middle sections (ie. bars 38-70) not very good as the counter melody is louder than the main melody.

Yes yes yes, our gowns are ready!!

So anyway the tailor called up, and she says she will come over on 22nd december, 11am.

We'll be trying on the gowns on that day and see if we need any alterations.
( I'm thinking of altering for the pple that need to shelly and play bass bells. )

HELLO EVERYBODY. its your ex-vice-president here. ok i haven't been here in ages and i just came so i read that post about SYF pieces/costume/performers all already settled. and it just totally gives me reminiscence of two years ago. when we just started SYF training! ~~and got a silver~~ so this time.. 2009 is yet another chance to prove and show that we're not made of silver material.

you all HAVE to go all out to get that gold. it doesn't come cheap. you have to shed blood, sweat (ok not really since we have an airconditioned AS2 but whatever) and tears. go through this together as a team. (: no discrimination among yourselves, its all about teamwork. turn up for all practices, if not gold is not yours. the only reason why anyway of you should miss training is medical leave. CAN?!

ok nag enough. i'll leave it to comm 0809 to do all this. but really. get that gold (or gold with honours) that we so much deserved two, four and six years ago.

felt like posting here. anyway, syf pieces & performers have been chosen, costumes have been ordered, so,
it's the beginning of a new journey for CHE!

one that will be filled with hard work, teamwork, sweat, tears(?hopefully not), endurance, stress, etc., etc. hopefully the journey will enable us to bond together as one to present our very best to the judges. and bring Cedar Handbells to greater heights!

First impressions are important, so SMILE (: and all the more you should smile for a lively song(:

however, those that did not get in for this year's SYF, don't be too sad, cos there'll always be another SYF in 2011 (for those ppl who are worried about cca points, according to my calculations, one SYF can guarantee you at least an A2 grade for CCA.)

so, we expect discipline and commitment from every single ringer. or else we cannot achieve Gold, not to mention GWH. And we all know how important next yr's SYF is. Cos it determines our future (in some ways). We need to do our best, if not our all seniors' efforts will go to waste. If they gave their best and they got silver, what are we going to get? COP?

ok i know i shouldn't be saying such things here. the point is,
this is how important teamwork is for handbells.

team support is very important too. if anyone makes mistakes, help them, encourage them. with teamwork, the music will sound as one!

which means:

1. if you have any doubts on the music, must clarify with exco/seniors.

2. remember what mrs aw says. if not, jot it down in your score or memorise it in your head. and put it into practice.

3. do not chit chat during practice time (including debrief!)

4. support your fellow ringers. emotionally and musically.

5. don't give up if you get scolded, because whatever the teachers say is for our good.

6. give your full attention during every single practice. once you daydream, that's it. the whole music will be ruined.

7. SMILE(: cos you're part of a great big family!

and happy people make beautiful music:D

and set up and pack up quickly so we can have more time to practice :D

please don't be unhappy with the strict training that we are going to impose soon, but this is for our good, so that we will be able to achieve our goal. if not you can prepare to receive more and more lectures...which we hope will not happen!

p.s. intensive training will begin on monday.(:
p.p.s. according to the clock on this blog there is only 186 days = 6 months left to SYF so yall had better start working hard! Don't underestimate time.

As it is a half day, we will start our practice at 1pm. Here is the schedule.

hmm. i know that practices are quite a lot for this holiday and all of it are LONG.but still try to turn up for all the practices...and breaks will be given in between.we seriously need practices in order to achieve the GWHs we promised seniors and to bring CHE to greater heights.so we need yall to coorperate.mrs aw would be coming for the first practice for performing group from 1.30-3.30.so everybody must turn up for that.we would be practicing songs that mrs aw prepared for us. as for group 3, yall would have to brush up on your skills and perfect the songs that mrs aw gave yall.

Practices and timing for them are so called already confirmed.if there are any changes,yall will be notified asap.so, turn up unless you have valid reasons.

k i'll just make this short and sweet cos i'm rushing for time. first of all, since the new exco names have been officially put up i have added it already. but i'll really miss the sec4s, and i'm sure everyone will. about my new secretary job, well I think actually you all can just treat us in the exco like normal friends, as what you all always do. just give us that extra bit of respect that we need and together we'll be able to achieve GwH next year:)

btw info on holiday practice and other stuff will be announced on thursday i guess? exco will be having meeting soon. and those who want the invites to this blog pls tag. Thank you:)

firstly i would really like to thank everyone for this farewell party. i really appreciated and enjoyed the food, games and performance items. other than the cake fight, everything was absolutely perfect. no doubt i will miss every single one of you when we leave, but we must always understand and bear in mind all things come to an end, regardless if they are good or bad. remember also that we may no longer be there physically, but the love and passion for handbell would be always around even after we graduate. aim high for syf 2oo9, we aim for a gold with honours. it would be better now that some judges do have handbell background to grade our techniques, but don't forget it also means they are able to catch any of our mistakes. do not be complacent, our hope is in your hands.

we will be very very officially stepping down after the leaders investiture in july. but now it will be the new committee o8-o9 handling everything. if there is anything that anyone is not sure of, don't hesitate to find any of the comm o7-o8 members. clear your doubts, don't accumulate them to the point of no return.

so i'm currently feeling abit nervous and scared =.=
COZ WHY, i heard that the sec4s who take bio may have bio remedial until 3.15 that day. OMG!!!?

Here's the schedule for farewell, provided that the sec4s dont have remedials at all !!

before 2.30: preparation time..SECFOURS ARE BANNED FROM THE AS2!!! :P

The rest is kinda a surprise. hahaha. so i hope there's no bio remedial for anybody or any stupid thing that's going to hold us up. :D

HELLO EVERYONE !

as you all know, yesterday, 24/04/08 was the first practice we had without the secondary four committee members with us. I can say that practice went along rather productively although we could have done without those chit-chats in between. But we managed to learn our songs and practice them before mrs aw came, so that's a plus point. Everyone must be more efficient like this every practice okay!

And let's return back to the first point. NO MORE SEC FOURS D':
Seniors, we want you all to know that we miss you loads during practice! We really wish that sec four farewell doesn't come that fast, but time doesn't wait for us -_____-
Nevertheless, sec four farewell planning is going along rather smoothly and you guys are in for a surprise! We hope we'll make your farewell a memorable one.

Hey seniors of SYF`07 batch...(if any of you are reading this)

Mrs. Aw told us today that for primary school SYF this year, the judges were from the handbell world. So, that's good for us! Cos they took into account things like presentation and technique, eg. whether when you change songs do you make a lot of noise etc. not like past SYFs, where the judges only judge on overall music sound and even GWH-winning team drop mallets on stage.

And Mrs Aw has always been emphasising on these small details. So hopefully we will have a higher chance of being able to get GOLD+Honours:) next year.

Of course, we must continue to work hard ...:D So jiayou!

Geraldine here.

Firstly, i guess everyone's kinda sad that sec4s are stepping down. I'll miss all that funny practices with them, and all the laughter they had brought to us. Speech day performance was tiring but fun actually. Though it was the first time i perspired so much during a performance. Well, this performance is kinda different from others coz i thought it was a different kind of atmosphere as well as attention from the "audience". I guess this performance was more like for ourselves to enjoy the music. [:

Secondly, farewell's on 12may2008. further details will be given at a further date. *suspicious,heh.*
Don't worry, sec4s, there'll be invitations. :P

Thirdly, i have some things to say to my seniors and juniors. And here goes...
TO sec4s:
I'm really sad that you guys are stepping down. It seems like just yesterday that y'all stepped up. Seriously!! I'll definitely miss all of you, esp the exco and sihui. (like evangeline :P) Anyway, all the best for your olevels, and remember, CHE will always be in your hearts, no matter what. (: We've been through ups and downs, happy moments and sad moments. But through it all, you have been my great senior that i'll never forget.

TO sec2s:
As you know, we'll be going through SYF09 together, aiming for GOLD WITH HONOURS WITH PLUS HONOURS. So i guess we just have to work that extra mile to get what we want. Like Mingee said, the committee may had been quite lenient, compared to esther and weiting's batch. Therefore, we may be extra strict when we step up ,maybe even stricter than them. Anyway, hope to see better improvement in terms of discipline as well as in playing the BELLS. (:

TO sec1s:
I know you guys just joined and all that, so you have lots to catch up on! Don't give up when you made a mistake but LEARN from it! Hope to bond with y'all sometime soon as well. The message to sec2s are also to you by the way. Oh, and thanks for the sweet card for us during speech day. You know this is the first time juniors make a CARD to cheer us up to seniors? Haha, Great job! (;

Oh and just to update y'all, the committee will still come for practices but the duties will be done by some people under observation.
Xinping and alicia will be in-charge this thursday, and Gillian and I will be in-charge next monday. We hope that you will cooperate with us. Thanks a bunch.

Good luck to sec1-3s that have lots of common tests this week. (Tmr's my amath test and im still typing this.) HAHAHA.

haha since everyone is posting on speech day i shall post one too.

anyway though i missed practice i still enjoyed speech day very much. new experience i guess. though we had some not very happy moments about the performance leading up to this, I was certainly glad at least we can still perform, and some people even took videos of us:) but i think i was quite tired like after 5-6 rounds ~~and my hands are aching:(~~ not anymore. and i made mistakes right in front of the GOH! oops:D

THANKS Sec 1s for the card and helping us to video the songs so many times! Pls email it to all of us once you have downloaded it. and i will miss the sec4s, esp. the EXCO & Sihui! Jiayou for Os!
